Fred Correll, a native of Athens, Michigan, holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Michigan. He entered the United States Air Force in 1968 and began a career as a bandsman. Following assignments in Ohio, the Republic of the Philippines and Georgia, he became a member of The United States Air Force Academy Band in December of 1971. During that assignment, he played tuba, sang, and served as the band’s on stage announcer. After nearly 25 years of service, he retired from active duty in 1993 with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Following retirement from the Air Force, Fred worked at KTLF-FM, a non-commercial Christian radio station in Colorado Springs. In 1996 he returned to the Air Force Academy Band as a civilian Director of Operations, a position he held for 17 years before retiring in 2013.
