Dr. Shanti Simon Nolan is Flight Commander and Associate Conductor with The United States Air Force Academy Band in Colorado Springs. Before moving to Colorado, Nolan served as Flight Commander and Associate Conductor with The United States Air Force Band in Washington, D.C. where she was the officer in charge of the Concert Band, Air Force Strings, the Airmen of Note, Max Impact, and also oversaw all areas of production and outreach. Nolan conducted performances with The USAF Band in the national capital region and around the country including the 2011 National Tree Lighting Ceremony with the Airmen of Note hosted by President Obama and the First Family. Nolan was on the faculty of Shenandoah Conservatory as the Associate Director of Bands for the 2013-2014 academic year.
Before joining the Air Force, Nolan earned her MM and DMA degrees in conducting from the University of Minnesota where she studied with Craig Kirchhoff. She received her BME and BM degrees from Stetson University with Bobby Adams. She also served as the Associate Director of Bands at Vero Beach High School for four years, where her ensembles consistently earned top ratings in all areas of district and state assessment. Nolan is active across the country as a guest conductor & clinician and performed on trumpet with the Tempo Rosa Brass Quintet in Minneapolis, Seaside Music Theater in Daytona Beach, and Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in Orlando.
